The Gastdozentenhaus “Heinrich Hertz” (house for guest lecturers) is situated in the Northwest of the university grounds, near the castle and the Hardtwald forest, and still not far away from the center of the city. It is surrounded by park areas and trees and was built in 1966.

The Heinrich Hertz House for Guest Lecturers is financed by the association of the Gastdozentenhaus Karlsruhe e.V. Founders and funding members of this association are the Technical University of Karlsruhe, the Karlsruher Hochschulvereinigung e.V. (association of Karlsruhe universities), and the Karlsruhe Research Center.

The Society for Maintaining Contacts Among Scientists (Heinrich Hertz Club) supports the house for guest lecturers and meets regularly there.
